Zoning Petitions
The Zoning staff processes petitions for zoning map amendments, special uses and variances in addition to offering advice and assistance to County committees, local communities and the general public on zoning matters.

The 2040 Future Land Use Map is a planning tool used by County to outline how land is intended to be used in the future. The map categorizes areas for residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, and recreational purposes, helping to shape a sustainable and organized vision for the community's long-term development.
The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) makes recommendations to the County Board regarding zoning map amendments and special uses, as well as text amendments to the Kane County Zoning Ordinance. The ZBA also has the authority to grant variations to certain requirements such as lot sizes, frontage requirements and setbacks.
